The Bhutto-ISM

' Aj Bhi Bhutto Zinda Hai Kal Bhi Bhutto Zinda Tha ' This statement has been streaming on various media platforms, public speeches and PPP hangouts but the essence is still quite vague for many people specially people like us who have a increasing interest in politics so I decided I should give my opinion on the matter as this is our vantage point here what we say matters ;) .

The statement if translated in English means ' Today Bhutto Exists and In The Past Bhutto Did Exist ' I never quite get this when I hear Asif Ali Zardari (not Asif Ali Bhutto) Husband of late Benazir Bhutto and Current president of Pakistan say this. Also what furthermore confuses me is when I hear 'Bilawal Ali Zardari Bhutto' son of Zardari say this.

On investigation into the matter this means street research and breaking into Top secret archives containing facts and literature on the existence of Pakistan and interviewing the establishment it was established that every Pakistani has this gene suppressed by hunger, illiteracy and injustice. This next level contagious gene with Z.A.B nature, which comes to life on joining The PPP. If you don’t get what I mean then yes this is rocket science.

What scared me was if I was infected. Then I began the search for a true Bhutto and on googling it the first result was Fatima Bhutto on secretly designing a UAV and sucking her blood and sending it to khan Labs for DNA testing it was discovered that she did not possess the gene now I was in a situation where all my research and hard work was of no value the question was and is still unanswered.

The truth comes to life with joining PPP and I do not possess the same mental or physical strength to do so. So until the truth finds me or I find the truth to satisfy the back of my head I think existence of Bhutto is a state of mind a fundamental principal or a fact from the parallel universes which is why its above my mental faculty.

In The end I hope Late Benazir Bhutto and her father Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto find a home in heaven and all their sins are forgiven.

Jack adds: I guess this Bhutto mentality can also be attributed to the people who support the "ORIGINAL" PPP which was formed under ZAB and are against the party which is lead by Zardari today.

Our True Enemies

The question that really matters now is who is responsible for destructive situation of South Asia? I personally agree with the people who advocate the idealogy that blaming the west is a work of defeatist, small minded humans. If I am weak and your powerful than I should work on my weakness so that it is not abused. Pointing the finger at the west especially at America is merely a ploy used by politicians to save their skin. Yes, US is a nosy superpower but all the problems of South Asia cannot be credit to it. Take illiteracy for one. Illiteracy is widespread due to the negligence of the respective governments and not due to the CIA. Infact, illiteracy coupled with unemployment is the main cause of terrorism. Take the supply of basic commodites such as water, grain and sugar. The US cannot be blamed for these shortfalls.
When the British were ruling over us, we used to blame them for all our miseries. Now we blame our governments and the US. How long can we move along in this manner? Our real enemies are these blame games and our incompetence. IF we, the people of South Asia, today decide that enough is enough and we won't blame others for our problems, but will do whatever we can to help ourselves and our countries only then can we bring progress, growth and enlightenment to this region.

Is space exploration more important than human beings?

Along with terrorism, another issue which seems uncontrollable is World Hunger. The number of hungry people reached 1 billion this year and the number is only going to increase from here. The USA, the world's
grandfather as I like to call it has donated 1.2 billion (the highest) to the World Food Program this year. This is a reduction from 2.07 billion that was donated by USA last year. Many say the decrease is due to recession.
On the other hand, The National Aeronautical and Space Agency (NASA) has received the same amount (17.2 billion) that it received last year. Common sense tells us that in recession the only activity that should have been curtailed is space exploration and the donation to the WFP should have increased. But the opposite is true.
15% of the world population is without basic food facilities and all we are doing is sending shuttles to Mars and the Moon.

Is A* the solution?

The Cambridge Assessment board has decided to introduce a A* grade in A Level and O Level examinations in Pakistan in addition to its current grades (A, B, C, D,E, U). The plan is that the students earning A in all components for the subject, as well as 90% on the A2 components will be awarded an A*. Moreover the percentiles earned with the grades will not be disclosed. Both these measures will be introduced in June 2010 for the first time. The examination board has decided to take this step as the UK Government had introduced similar changes in the Grade system of UK examinations. This was done to aid British Universities distinguish between different applicants during the application process.
My question is whether this will be effective or not? For one, the percentiles will not be disclosed from 2010 onwards which means it will be even more difficult for Universities to distinguish between different A graders. Secondly, as A* is the highest grade students will study harder to attain the A* grade and eventually all those earning A grades will earn A*s and the universities will be facing the same dilemma that they face right now?

Hey Guys! It has been more than three months since our last post. The primary reason behind this hiatus was our exams (see we are big boys now!). Now that we are done with them and the post-exam jubiliation is over, I would like to assure you that we will start posting on our blog.

Are there no Rights for women in Islam?

Last week we saw the propagandist policies of Pakistan-bashing reach new heights. Which were an after effect of the barbaric policies of Taliban (People who use religion as a tag, desperation as a force and aim to gain control for external forces which support them). Jack and I condemn the flogging but my sources have revealed that this incident had a political aim. The amazing thing is that the tape was provided by an International NGO to an international news channel, also the incident took place about six months before the Swat peace treaty took place.

The aim of this blog is not at all to publicize and further diminish the girls status in the society but we aim to tell the world the honour women have in Islam and the what woman can do in Pakistan which is still unattainable in many parts of the world.

The Hadith (Holy Prophets saying) and verses from the Quran below are proof what Islam preaches about women. Quran is the only religious scripture which has mentioned and provided women rights.

Hadith = Narrated Mu'awiyah al-Qushayri: "I went to the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) and asked him: What do you say (command) about our wives? He replied: Give them food what you have for yourself, and clothe them by which you clothe yourself, and do not beat them, and do not revile them.” (Sunan Abu-Dawud, Book 11, Marriage (Kitab Al-Nikah), Number 2139)

Riyad as Saliheen, chapter 34, ‘treating women well’, nr 278. Abu Hurayra stated, "The Messenger of Allah, May Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'The most perfect of believers in belief is the best of them in character. The best of you are those who are the best to their women.'" [at-Tirmidhi]

The Prophet Muhammad, PBUH, said: "Heaven lies under the feet of mothers."

"The best among you are those who are the best to their wives."

Proof what Taliban are doing is thought of and is a part of a bigger plan to de-strengthen the writ of the government and develop a beastly image for Islam and Pakistan.

In America out of 541 seats in there congress there are only 75 women member (14%) in Pakistan the last 2002 elections had 91 women members out of 342 total members (27%) also Pakistan has 60 fixed seats for women in the national assembly. In the 2008 General Elections women won 76 out of 338 seats in the National Assembly and 17 out of 100 seats in the Senate (Upper House). This is in contrast to India (the selfproclaimed most forward nation in Asia) which has only 48 women in the parliament. Further more America due to sexist ideology has never had a female head of state and in Pakistan late Benazir Bhutto ruled for two terms.

Pakistan is one of the only two nations created for religion and (Pakistan Muslim league Womens Wing) played a major role in the process. Also Fatima Jinnah, Quaid e Azam`s sister stood by him and every Muslim who dreamed of a Islamic state. She earned the status of the Madre Millat (mother of the nation) yet again Pakistan is the only country where a woman has such status. I ask you if Islam was against women or had sexist laws why would women help make a Islamic state called Pakistan)

In Islam Hazrat Fatima (Holy Prophets daughter) and his wife's narrated loads of traditions. Hazrat Ayesha (One of Holy Prophet's  (PBUH) wives) gave the most traditions. In Islam we don't believe in propagation of a sole or exploitation of human body. The thing I don't get is in many parts of the world it is legitimate to keep any kind of a relationship with a girl without any contract or marriage but the way in Islam which provides security and rights for the women (polygamy) is publicized as a satanic act. I will explain how polygamy is a good thing in the comment section.

Writing this essay I feel shameful that still there are incidents in Pakistan which violate human rights, also Pakistan is full of women doctors, teachers, police women, and politicians who work hard day and night to provide a better future for Pakistan. But that does not mean that Pakistani law or indeed Islamic law condones them.

23 March 1940 ( Pakistan Resolution )

On 23 rd March 1940 the basis of our identity was decided. On this day All India Muslim League Gathered for there annual meeting in Minto Park (Iqbal Park). Great leaders Liaqat Ali khan and M Ali Jinnah gave speeches of how diverse the Muslims and the Hindus were. Also ideas like (two nation theory) presented earlier by Allama Iqbal and Sir Syed Ahmad Khan were revised. This day marked the beginning of the struggle which led to the creation of Pakistan. Our ancestors achieved Pakistan through dedication, determination and a dream to follow the truth. On 14 august 1947 they succeeded in creating Pakistan and altering the course of history. This marked a new chapter in the world politics and till this day forces exist which are not satisfied by the existence of Pakistan. Creation of Pakistan also marked the existence of the first of the two countries created for religion. We as Pakistanis wonder if we really are following the vision we were created for. This web page is also an effort by jack and I to revive principals that defined us on 23rd March 1940. I think being a Pakistani is not a identity its a state of mind.

I will write a blog on the personal accounts of people who created Pakistan in near future so there memories could be preserved.

Lahore Attack: Salute to all Martyrs

This post is not the normal article that I write nor is it about who I think is involved in the attacks. We here at Anci's Vantage Point want to salute all those who lost their lives in the Lahore attack on the Sri Lankan team on the 3rd of March.
I, Jack, am myself from Lahore and the Liberty roundabout is my route from college to my house. Luckily I had decided to skip college on the 3rd.
Anci and I are very proud of the brave policemen who sacrificed their lives in order to protect their guests, the Sri Lankans. There are reports that security was not foolproof but we will discuss that later.
The picture above is of the Traffic Warden who was gunned down by the terrorists. Another angle of the picture and the roundabout is in the picture on the right (please forgive my camera for the hazy picture) which I shot from my mobile phone.
We are proud of the people listed below:
  • Tanveer Iqbal (Traffic Warden) - in the pictures above
  • Faisal Rasheed (Punjab Police)
  • 5 other Policemen of Punjab Police's Elite Force
  • Zafar Khan (The driver of the officials van)
  • Mehr Khalil (Driver of the players bus)
We would also like to thank the Sri Lankans, for coming to Pakistan amid security threats and pressure from India, and the match officials. And not to forget Mr. Ahsan Raza, the umpire who was injured seriously in the attack. We pray for his health and hope that he regains fitness soon.

If you know the names of any of the other five policemen please post them in the comments.

Identifying the real terrorists

I begin with the name of Allah, the Most Gracious and the Most Merciful

The whole world changed after the attacks on the World Trade Centre on 11th September 2001. We, here in Pakistan, were unaware of terms such as suicide bombing and bomb-planted jackets before 9/11. Post 9/11, the World has seen acts of terrorism which were unthinkable a decade ago. The number is increasing each year and terrorism has engulfed the sub-continent.
The term "Terrorist" refers to the people who blow themselves up and cause the death thousands of people each year and those who by the use of force challenge the writ of the government . I think it is time we redefine this term and identify the real terrorists.
Terrorism has its roots in oppression and frustration. Western Media critizes Islam for promoting terrorism in the form of Jihad. This is totally incorrect. Islam is against extremism. The Surah from the Quran below proves my point.
But if the enemy incline towards peace, do thou (also) incline towards peace, and trust in Allah: for He is the One that Heareth and Knoweth (all things). (Surah 8 Verse 61)

What forces people to become terrorists is oppression. You might point out that most terrorist are muslims, this is because it is the muslims who have been oppressed the most.
Starting from the establishment of British Rule in the subcontinent Muslims have been trodden upon many times. The way in which the Mughal Emperor Bahadur Shah II was overthrown is an example in itself. Before Shah's removal, the British killed all his family members infront of his eyes. This created hatred in the heart of the Muslims of the subcontinent who were in favour of Mughal Rule.
Then in 1949 the Western World helped Jews create an illegal state known as Israel. Palestine was divided and by usurping many parts of the Muslim land Israel grew bigger. Muslims were confined to West Bank and Gaza.
Then the more recent attack by Israel on Palestine serves as another example. More than 1000 innocent people were killed in the attacks. A hundred were shut into a house and the house was then blown up. And to augment the frustration and anger of the Muslims no sanctions were imposed on Israel. Institutions such as United Nations whose main purpose is to protect weak nations failed completely to stop Israel's attacks on Gaza.
These are only two example of the oppression on Muslims. There have been thousands such incidents but no one listened to our cries. It is in these conditions that people turn into Terrorists.
The children in Gaza, who helplessly saw their parents die while the World celebrated New Year, have no other option but to fall prey to terrorism. They now have no life to live. No goal to achieve. They have seen their houses being reduced to rubble. Their only motive is to seek revenge from killers of their families.
In 2007, Queen Elizabeth knighted Salman Rushdie. Rushdie wrote a defamatory book about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He has other books but they are not the literary masterpieces due to which someone should be knighted. Was Rushdie the only man in the world to be Knighted? I mean, I know about thousands of people from Britain who deserved the 'Sir' Prefix more than Rushdie. Muslims all over the world were raged by this act of the Queen.
Then there are the drones on Pakistan soil. They started in the year 2008 and about 40 drones have hit the tribal areas of Pakistan. And they are useless. American authorities claim that they have killed many Taliban through these attacks but the reality is that the main Taliban leaders are still at large. Mullah Umar is in Saudi Arabia, why doesnt the American Government demand his handover? Moreover hundreds of innocent civilians have died due to these drone attacks.
The parliament of Pakistan passed a motion asking America to stop the drone attacks but the Drones are still being fired. Its ironic that America supports democracy in the world but does not pay heed to motions in the Parliament of Pakistan.
The thing I want to say is that muslims have faced a lot of oppression. It seems that there is a different set of rules for muslims and a different one for the rest of the world. In these circumstances, when our voice is not being heard, you cannot blame Muslims for following the path of terrorism. Muslims are not terrorists. The people who oppress them can be termed as the real terrorists.

Israel's massacre of Palestinians

This is the first post of the new Islamic year but unfortunately there is not much to celebrate for the muslims all round the world. Israel's attacks on Gaza are now being talked about all over the world. It is being termed as Israel's holocaust. The situation is getting worse day by day and on last count 700 Palestininans have been murdered and thousands have been injured by Israel's heinous attacks.
A resolution was being passed in the United Nations to stop these attacks on Gaza Strip, but the "world's oldest democracy" vetoed it. U. S. Ambassador John Bolton legitimized the blockade of the resolution by saying that Israel's attacks were in the light of the kidnapping of two Israel soldier by Hezbollah. The stupidity of the statement is highlighted by two facts;
1) Israel has killed 700 Palestinians for those two soldiers and America supports that
2) Hezbollah is a major wing the West Bank and not in the Gaza Strip. Hamas is responsible for Gaza, so why are the attacks being targetted at Gaza?
It is indeed a sorry sight to see the innocent Palestinians being killed. Schools have been targetted by Israel, women have been killed but there is no one to stop the Israeli tanks and missiles. America is making some half hearted efforts due to which a 3-hour window has been initiated during which Israel would not attack Gaza and medical help would be provided to Palestinians.
A truce is needed at this moment. But as we have seen in the past, no sanctions will be imposed on Israel by either UN or the USA. The role of UN is almost of an American toy, and that is sad to see.
